Coronavirus in Poland

Is there a reason you guys

By you guys, do you mean leftists or the Irish? If so, I'm not a 'leftist' - and I certainly understand the concept of per capita. What's your point exactly?

It doesn't fit the narrative, so it doesn't exist. Leftards only see what they want to see.

If so, I'm not a 'leftist'

If you don`t condemn certain ideas that rigthtards do, then you are always a leftist to them. :):) With us or against us - that`s their motto.

It doesn't fit the narrative, so it doesn't exist.

And this relates to my comments regarding the comparative death rates in Poland and Ireland, how, exactly?

f you don`t condemn certain ideas that rigthtards do,

Yes, I know, if you're not marching around in jackboots, waving your national flag and spending your spare time down on your knees with your rosary beads, then you're a 'leftard'. We simply don't have that left/right thing in Ireland. Anyone who leans too much either way is seen as a nutter basically :))

hahaha That`s the approach I like very much. We need it in Poland, too.

spending your spare time down on your knees with your rosary beads,

Only in public coz off-sight they like to get a little dirty from time to time.

That`s the approach I like very much.

When you think about it, it makes sense. Something in the centre is nice and balanced and symmetrical and accessible by all. It's right :)) You don't put a vase of flowers on the right or left of your mantelpiece or over to one side of the dinner table. You put it in the centre. Same with politics.

even better filtration than N95

The N-95 only filtrates the intake air but does no filtration when you exhale.
They are worthless for the other guy.

The Daily Numbers...

Fatalities (daily total) 18, age range 61-96, average age 78 (highest one day total since June 30....)

Hospitalizations (running total) up 39 to 1898

Ventilators in use up 7 to 72

Cured (daily total) just 265, but still less than have the number of newly found cases

Ratio of cured to fatalities (daily) there were 14 times more cured cases than fatalities.

726 new cases, another 18 deaths and it's just been announced that schools will reopen on 1 September...............

They will not let the droplets out, so "for the other guy", they are at the very least as good, as wearing poorly fitted t-shirt material on your face, and thats when they can remember to pull up over the nose.

Maybe just put an end to all the huge wedding parties where most of these are being reported to be infected is an idea? This isn't rocket science. Social distancing and when in close quarters wear a mask. Simple and it works. The moron who made the 150 person wedding party decision should be publicly outed.

mafketis

that schools will reopen on 1 September...............

Given that the average age of fatalities is about 75 I'm not sure what the problem is (apart from some elderly people who will need help in order to self-isolate) as I've said the longer schools are closed the harder it will be for them to be opened...

Lockdowns haven't stopped the virus anywhere in Europe and social distancing is impossible in many contexts and shutting down the economy any longer is simply a non-starter (unless you want a full scale continent wide depression that will kill more people than the virus).

All that can be done at this stage is for individuals to be careful and for countries to push through and ride it out....

they are at the very least as good, as wearing poorly fitted t-shirt material on your face,

When I go into a grocery store and see these big macho clods with a bandana, worn like a cowboy does to prevent dust, hanging in front of their mouth and nose I think to myself, "who in the hell do you think you are kidding".

As long as our world leaders don't come up with a mandatory properly fitting efficient mask and enforced laws for not wearing one in public this sht will continue forever.

I agree that schools should be open. I think they should take priority over bars, nightclubs and weddings/large gatherings and parties.

All that can be done at this stage is for individuals to be careful

But they're not being careful.

Enforce the regulations regarding numbers, social distancing and mask wearing on public transport. That's not happening right now and it's definitely contributing to the spread of the virus.

Enforce regulations regarding numbers in all other situations.

Don't run sporting events such as the Tour of Poland.

Don't permit large public gatherings like the Warsaw Uprising shindigs last weekend.

Don't encourage people to come out in their droves to vote in elections.

Don't allow students to live in dormitories.

Close essentially non-profit making, public institutions like museums.

Close non-essential facilities such as public libraries.

Re-introduce the ban on public seating and gathering areas in shopping centres.

None of those measures would destroy the economy but they would help to contain the virus.

Enforce the regulations regarding numbers, social distancing and mask wearing on public transport

Hard to do without extra staff - drivers and/or people whose job would be enforcing distance/numbers.

As for other measures, I think that big outdoor events where people wear masks (or elections) aren't as dangerous.

The Warsaw uprising is too important culturally to just call off or tell people to not attend...

But indoor events are another thing (I've gone to restaurants a couple of times in the last month or so but with outdoor seating (and would not linger in a shopping mall either....)

I worry that closing dormitories is just going to make other living arrangements more crowded.

A lot of public policy is based on creating a comforting illusion that people can control the course of this..... and it's not really true..

It's down to individual responsibility by now.

Hard to do without extra staff -

Use the police and supplement with the military if they don't have enough police.

6 Aug 2020  #2869

It's down to individual responsibility by now.

And that doesn't seem to be working so well with the morons now is it.
Plain cloths local cops giving out $1000 tickets would nip it in the ass within a week.
As long as there are no consequences for violating a law or rule what's the point in having them.

johnny reb
6 Aug 2020  #2870

And a certified mask by the State to being worn properly.
Not a handkerchief, not worn under the nose and tight fitting.
To be worn anyplace in public or around the public........... no exceptions.
14 days in jail for second offense.
Any questions ?

properly fitting efficient mask

Have you considered that their effectiveness relies on people wholly unqualified to use them. Tests of mask filtration are irrelevant when they have to be worn by people who need written instructions to handle hot coffee.

I feel this message is probably futile, and while I truly wish you the best of luck in protecting yourself when you're out an about. Please do not for one minute think that your (or any one else's for that matter) government, or strangers on the street give two tosses for your welfare. If your hope for the endgame of this virus is trust in government, society or the public to do the right thing, then I'm afraid you're going to be as disappointed as all the people who thought a 3 month lockdown was just the ticket to clear this whole mess up in time for the summer holidays.

You are OK, most of the time, Maf. Note to my friend Pawian. Wandering aimlessly in the "pinko" desert leads only to a confused state of mind.

Fallow Maf, that is your way to salvation.

The Daily Numbers...

Fatalities (daily total) 18, age range 43-91, average age 75

Hospitalizations (running total) up 15 to 1913

Ventilators in use up 72 (no change)

Cured (daily total) just 321 less than half the number of newly found cases

Ratio of cured to fatalities (daily) there were 17 times more cured cases than fatalities.

Hospitalization rates are increasing but at a much slower pace than new cases being found...

The British 'government' (read: deep state) has already been caught out inflating the death toll. No doubt the same sh!t is happening across the pond.

The article is correct but your comment is not.

The British government have not been inflating the death toll.
Doctors have inadvertently done it by citing cause of death as Covid19 on death certificates when the patient had signs of it because it was easier than finding the true cause of death.

All that can be done at this stage is for individuals to be careful

Thank you @mafketis for your kind concern.

I always drink responsibly, eat healthily and drive carefully since I know that obesity which leads to circulatory systems diseases and car accidents are top causes of death. Coronavirus cases in Poland are placed firmly at the very bottom of the list in those statistics, somewhere between the victims of an explosive diarrhea and those who've been fatally struck by a lightning...

If major news portals placed a counter of daily car accidents victims would you stop travelling by a car? At least that would make more sense than putting a dust mask on you face in order to stop a virus...
