Coronavirus in Poland

They have been counting ppl that have died in car accidents here in Illinois as related to the china virus. Its 100% political and it will miraculously disappear after the November election.. Who wants to bet?

Yes I will bet 10 bucks that it still exists after November. A convincing piece of evidence is that it is in the whole world, not just the US.

The reason it is worse in the US is because there is no leadership and the medical system is separate from the government

Ventilators in use up 1 to 73 (no change)

Cured (daily total) just 399 a little less than half the number of newly found cases

Ratio of cured to fatalities (daily) there were 30 times more cured cases than fatalities.

Daily average fatalities for the last 7 days.... 10.1

Neither of my personal (and very arbitrary) numbers of concern have been meet by this current surge in discovered cases...

2000 or more hospitalizations for any 3 days of a 5 day period

20 or more fatalities for any 3 days of a 5 day period.

Remember, most of the time, a new case = mild cold or less only a very small (decreasing?) number of cases result in hospitalization or worse....

Also, the fatality rate for resolved cases has decreased to 5.5 percent (rather than 7 or higher of a couple of months ago.

Well, I lived in socialistic state, and I can recognize a creative accounting when I see one.
From my side the situation looks like it's a worse bureaucracy than I experienced during socialism, and the whole situation are full of government officials trying to downplay theirs mishaps, while virus which is completely oblivious to various civil rights ideas is doing nearly whatever it wants.

Another virus coming out of China. Funny how they just keep coming out of China, isn't it? A few weeks ago, it was the bubonic plague. Before that, we had SARS.

They now are saying that even when the vaccine comes out that it is most likely to be like all the rest of the virus vaccines which are at most 60% effective.

There are no virus vaccines that 100% effective.
The masks do help with people who have bad breath though.

Yesterday I had a huge argument at Trader Joes for mask as I was wearing a face shield from Loews even when it clearly says protection against Droplets,Saliva,Splash,Oil and Dust.Finally when I wanted to call the cops the manager came and allowed me.I wish they had thrown me out.

Being that more ppl actually die from influenza per year, its just a matter of time before the mass hysteria driven by the political left has subsided. It will happen in November here in the US, soon after the election.

I have noticed fewer people not wearing masks in public transport in the most recent days.... the unmasked are now usually teens (never known anywhere for being especially smart anywhere) or lumpy...

I'm showing an example of normality in those not exactly normal times.

I believe the message is clear: there are normal places and normal people out there. You don't have to submit to corona-paranoia and become a [dust] masked freak. Switch off TV and switch on the brain.


Politicians and beaurocrats are testing us and checking how much further they can push it before meeting strong resistance. Corona restrictions and based on pseudo-scientific projections corrected by the response from the society.

And they are also using primitive manipulation methods: social pressure, shaming, emotional blackmail...it is much easier to control the society when each individual members control one another.

If you live in Poland you have to wear a mask in the places where you're required to do so or face a minimum 500zl fine.

New Zealand just marked 100 days with no new domestic COVID-19 cases.

I am told the US is the country with the biggest number of fatal coronavirus cases in the world.

Same on Poland unfortunately - freeloaders benefits are not touched but the productive people on the economy get no support from PiS.

Ratio of cured to fatalities (daily) there were 93 times more cured cases than fatalities.

There have been fewer tests in the last few days which might explain the lower positive test numbers...

On the other hand, the second spike in terms of hospitalizations seems to be sputtering out.... will there be a Tuesday or Wednesday surge as the weekend numbers are collected? Stay tuned...

In view of the recent rise in new cases, it will be interesting to see whether that will be reflected in fatalities over the next couple of weeks. Given that many of these new cases are in clusters of younger people, it will probably depend on how many older people they've been in contact with and passed the virus on to.

Just as a matter of interest, the number of new cases is on the rise again in Ireland, but for several weeks now the majority of those cases are amongst younger people and we've had literally only a handful of deaths. Over the past 14 days, 879 cases have been notified, giving a 14 day incidence of 18.5 per 100,000. Of these 879 cases, the median age is 33 years and 73% of cases occurred in those under the age of 45.

How many of them have been hospitalized? I generally assume that most cases aren't confirmed and then later they make it to the hospital (some but not many) most hospitalized cases I think are when the person is already pretty sick and then confirmed when they're already in the hospital (I could wrong of course).


Yes it will, let's hope for the best. I've seen speculation (no hard proof but possible evidence) that the virus is already weaker than it was in April or so (my understanding is that the normal way these things work is for viruses to mutate to less fatal forms since technically killing the host isn't good for the virus).
