Poland under pressure of EU to accept more asylum seeking refugees

InPolska

@Cms: Instead of saying the "Germans", I would rather say Merkel since she has not even consulted with other German politicians.

I am not sure the German people are going to be with her very long. I won't be surprised if Perdiga (or whatever the anti muslim movement is East Germany is called) starts demonstrating again. Let's not also forget that in Germany in 2015 (and the year is not finished) there were over 200 refugees' shelters burnt down.....

Poland had nothing to do with Libya or the whole Arab spring.

Yes, and it was a very wise move.

Better late than never but now they need to cope with the mess they created. Leaving aside all the other issues, Poland is not technically prepared to handle any large number of Arab refugees, for example we would need damn load of "social workers" fluent in Arabic and we don't have them, refugees that have been granted asylum here so far were mainly Russian speakers from the FSU countries.

What's going on Greg, we're having a reasonable discussion here ;)

Yes, I'd absolutely agree with you. Poland is not prepared at all, and I think the stories so far about how many refugees have simply vanished show that it's a complete waste of time and money to do so.

If Germany wants to pay for them to settle here, then I'm all for it - but otherwise, no, unless someone wants to pay.

@Grzegorz: true that Poland (and others) are not technically prepared.

In some islamistic news ?

ahem... news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3043330.stm

in western Europe the 2nd generation is often less integrated than their parents

this seems illogical ... as the 2nd generation starts young in the society and get integrated automatically just by attending school

Sigmar Gabriel, Germany's Vice-Chancellor and Minister of the economy says that Germany cannot make it so why in the world Merkel has invited 800,000 migrants only for this year)???? So let's expect Poland shall have to make a bigger effort and take more than ... 2,000 ;).

Polonius3

more than ... 2,000

Regardless if PL agrees to take in 2,000 or 20,000 or more, they won't stick around for long, for their destination is Deutschland über Alles. If this continues, what happens when das Reich becomes overinvaded and bogged down by every manner or real or pseudo-refugee, economic mirgant, etc.?

@Pol3: read the latest news re Germany! They realize that they cannot make it..... It would sound like a joke if no human tragedy. Since Germany cannot take in as many as Merkel would have wanted, other countries (including Poland) shall have their quotas increased...

The EU has promised to pay Poland and every other country money for every refugee it takes in.
Except that the promised money has now completely run out and everyone (that is all people living within EU borders) will have to contribute to the EU budget, so that the refugees can be helped.

InPolska

@Terri: that's right that they have stopped talking about paying countries to take in refugees.

Here is a video of the legion marching in Poland. Enough to make any anti-fa crap his pants.

Your video is laughable.

Throughout my life, when I have met scum face to face, they have always had no bottle, and needed to call on others.Without their "friends" they have nothing.

Individually these people are cowards.

Pure scum. Together, Poland will do the right thing. And if they don't, the EU will rightly show them the error of their ways.

I have read that yesterday in Warsaw a black guy was beaten up by some of those. Do feel free to check on the net!

One of the conditions of residency in Poland is if you are not in employment you have to prove you are financially secure so as not to be a burden on the countries welfare system

What welfare system?

InPolska

Yes, what welfare system?

This is probably why they wouldn't want to come to Poland and would be very unlikely to stay. I linked to a video where a number of refugees very clearly explained that they didn't want to stay in Denmark because the benefits weren't good enough. Some clame to have relatives in Sweden too which would point to them probably being Iraqi and not Syrian after all but nobody wants to talk about that either.

Poland will do the right thing. And if they don't, the EU will rightly show them the error of their ways.

So far, Poland's position seems to be a lot better thought out and consistent than Angela "Come here! Wait! Not so many!" Merkel's or that of her minions like Juncker.

The system assumed by Brits to exist all across the EU, probably.

Now don't be silly. We all know that the system in place for refugees would be linked to GDP. This has nothing to do with Poles' blatant disregard for their own population.

It might actually force Polish authorities to wake up to who is worthy of help and who is not. Communism did TOTAL damage and we cannot expect people living in Poland Bongo-bongo land aka Polska B to land a living wage without much help. And that does not mean reproducing the silly communist "utopia" of a metal works in every eastern town.

Those living west of Warsaw however have no excuse, and those in Polska B should not be shy in moving to where work is - and must not be complacent in helping the refugees either.

It really is Polska A versus Polska B just as the Uk had to suffer economic reality of the North-South divide.

While here, it's worth noting that Germany did everything it could to keep Poles from legally working in Germany for as long as it could when Poland joined the EU. for Germany to presume to lecture Poland now about taking in refugees is hypocritical in the extreme.

Germany has consistently worked against the interest of fellow EU members like Poland and Greece and now wants everybody to do its bidding by taking in large numbers of people who will be nothing but a burden on the taxpayer for the forseeable future.

not buying it.

Merkel is completely irresponsible and cynical. How can she invite people to come in and then tell them "sorry, no"? Could she not get informed before opening her big mouth in order to find out that her plan to take in 800,000 was not realistic?

It beats me....

I have just called my daughter, who works at one of Krakow's leading hostels. She say the enquiries off-season are from Ukrainians. She is very upset when she has to turn them away, and the problem of the refugees is out of the ball-park.

Also nothing will change that blacks are not European.

I was born in 1957. In Nottingham. That's a city in England. My British (Scottish) heritage is traceable back 800 years Nottingham has achieved great things in history. A lot of it's citizens are black. And were born as English as I am.

My daughter is not as stupid as I am. Cultural diversity is good. I welcome any immigrants who can stop Poles being so inherently short-minded and racist.

Poland should help refuges. We should accept maybe even 20,000 refuges. But in this amount shouldn`t be economic immigrants. Only people from syria iraq`s war zones. We should take christians families.

This is simple. People are equal. They are worth the same. But in Poland we have monoculturalsociety. We don`t want to change it. Angela said that one of the German relgion is islam. In Poland not. So we can take christians. Germany should took muslims. It will be better for us and for muslims. They probably will integrate better in Germany.

Or multicultural society is now official EU agenda?:)

What are you on about? Poland has plenty of national minorities and has been multicultural for centuries.

In Poland 97 % peoples are Poles.

This is moncultural society. This is even mononational society.

Yes. Poland ( rather Rzeczpospolita) has plenty of national minorities. But also always were monocultural. Becouse Ukrainians, Rus, Lithuenians, etc. belongs to the same cultur.

Tomorrow the authority will speak. The refugees will be coming here.

I am sorry that you don't recognise authority. Maybe you don't do authority, what with partition and everything. but without it, Poland would still be the country of Fiat cars and perogi.

Both of which are equally crap :)

Are they gonna get locked in concentration camps? Because if not, they will flee to Germany like all the rest, not like I'm bothered by this :-)))

They're now suspending Schengen on the Austrian border, and it seems that Germany actually can't cope at all despite the previous comments.

Germany has now closed the border to "FORCE" other European countries to accommodate the invasion of economic immigrants.

Why Germany just closed its borders to refugees
In a shocking development in the European migrant crisis, Germany is immediately introducing border controls in the south of the country, Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière announced on Sunday. The government of Chancellor Angela Merkel claimed "urgent security reasons."

Apparently Germany wants to increase the pressure on the European Union to finally find an EU-wide solution to the refugee crisis.
The decision marks a surprising turnaround in Germany's attitude toward the European refugee crisis
However, now Germany clearly wants to show that it's not willing nor able to solve the refugee crisis alone. By closing the borders, the country increases the pressure on its EU partners tremendously to take their share of the burden.

I guess after seeing the 10 to 1 anti-refugee marches in Poland Merkel has no other choice.
Germany is telling Poland that YOU WILL take these undesirable's that are not only national threats but also cultural threats.
Poland should ask her that, "we tried to tell you that you were making a mistake and now you want Poland to make the SAME mistake ?

No thank you, we don't acre to participate in your stupidity."
And the worse part is there are millions more that are going to follow !
Hungry has just announced that will start using tear gas and rubber bullets for crowd control and if that doesn't work they WILL use live ammunition.

They should have used live ammo right from the git go, just like any eastern block countries would have, as this is all these people know.

I don't know how to explain this to you Johnny, but I was at the pro-refugee march yesterday in Poznań and the numbers were about 50-1 in favour of the pro side.

Poland already did, as did many other countries. Germany is in real, real trouble, not least because the Lander are also rebelling against the plans.
