...like Paris isn't really France, Berlin isn't really Germany, London isn't really England, and New York isn't really America, eh?
Let's all return to the country:-)

Warsaw is not actual Poland.
It certainly isn't anywhere else. have you spent much time here in Warsaw?
Paris isn't really France, Berlin isn't really Germany, London isn'
and Poznań, Kraków, Łódż, Gdańsk, Szczecin etc. presumably aren't either... ;-)

Jon, the person obviously means that to a country bumpkin (that's "pumpkin" with a "b"LOL), any big city in their country is like a foreign land, as everyone doesn't think, talk, act, or look alike!

Quite. I doubt there's any great enthusiasm on the part of people coming thousands of miles on foot and at great risk from war-torn Syria etc to settle in Szczebrzeszyn, Szydłow or Drohiczyn and in any case there is tolerance (and in the case of one of those a degree of multiculturalism anyway) to be found in the most unexpected places.

You don't mean perchance the SAME Szczebrzeszyn of the renowned tongue twister, do you?
Any Syrian who can pronounce, much less spell correctly, that well-known Brzechwa line, ought to be given free room and board (..and Polish lessonsLOL)

Another day, another attack.
> 17 year old Afghan refugee
> More than 20 people in Germany have been injured after a man with an axe and a knife went on the rampage on a train, German media report.

The mistake was to let them in in the first place, right? Well, now that they're there, there's little left to do sensibly, other than integrate them, or, extradite the troublemakers and hope that this sends a clear signal to the rest of the pack!!!
Tough to say if one's relative were on that train, but, there not bad 'cuz they're Afghanis, there bad 'cuz they just happen to be bad PEOPLE., regardless of their background.
This is exactly how prejudice starts to fester, slowly, one hate crime at a time. One bad turn oughtn'y beget another!

Ya, but certain demographics seem to have more "bad people". Religion and social norms, many of these are war survivors. Right there you have a mentally fragile population. A decade ago there is no-way I could have imagined Western Europe being as safe as the USA but this seems to be the new norm and past history illustrates resentful grows over time.

Spot on, which is why we must always resist hatred where we find it. The authorities and those with influence in Poland should listen very carefully to Pope Francis on this matter.

A POLISH Pope once did the same: Lolek Wojtyła - Polish hero!
He was also the first Pope to lay modern European anti-Semitism squarely at the Catholic Church's doorstep:-)

We are viewed as weak by Muslims and this contributes. To many Muslims they feel it is their duty to bring Islam to Europe and help save it (birth rate myth)

Are you including members of the Jewish faith as well in your discussion, after all, the Occident IS the "Judeo-Christian" tradition too:-)

Indeed he did, however some of those in his denomination who are loudest about their religious identity are actually quite selective about his teachings.

I have mixed feeling about it. Was it that when Pope was in Greece he took only Muslim families with him to Italy ? Sorry but Christians are prosecuted in lots of these countries and for me it would be much nicer and fairer gesture if he took 1 family of each religion.
It would be sign of reconciliation and living in peace.

Most, even 90% were Muslim and these were the people he wanted to make a point about. The few Christian families had already been taken in somewhere already.
He did the right thing.

I think it sends very mixed messages and there were Christian families there who were left behind.
I did not like it. If it was to be gesture to be seen by all world ......

Christian families
Indeed. Remember most Syrian Christians are still in Syria by choice. People only abandon their home and flee under extreme circumstances and right now everything depends on where in Syria they live.

Right now depends on what religion you believe in, Christian or Sharia.
Poland would not object to Catholic Christians seeking refuge in Poland but refuse to accept the idea of Sharia refugees who want to kill infidels of Allah.

Kondzior.....we are having that exact conversation here atm. Its all over the telly, at the moment we are having a witch hunt by left extremists on anyone who dares to speak. It won't work for them though. As far as poland goes the best idea is to.keep out the primitive islamists in the first place because its harder to get rid of them once they are set in. The polish government won't win any friends on the left but who cares. If poland is serious about helping these people the best way is to go to syria or wherever when war is over and help rebuild.

< the daily attack >
Man knifes mother and three daughters at French holiday park. The mother, 46, and her daughters aged eight, 12 and 14 were regular visitors to the holiday camp at Garde-Colombe and had been having breakfast when they came under attack. All four were taken to hospital and the youngest suffered a punctured lung, reports said.
According to authorities, the suspect in custody was of Moroccan origin and had been staying on the site with his own family next door to the victims.

So in fact you don't know anything. Perhaps we should ban tourists.

Just quoting BBC article
Unrelated to Poland and with no knowledge of the teenager's circumstances or mental health. And certainly no suggestion whatsoever that the family were refugees and little information about who the victims were or whether they were known to the teenager's family or indeed related.
today also men in Spalding ( nice little town
Town of flowers, yes, it's nice there. A desperately sad story; it makes one wonder what was going on.. Did you hear about the guy opposite Lidl in Bielany (the Warsaw Bielany) at the weekend who drove his car right into pedestrians. Awful, and the media at first thought it was something like the Nice killings.
