I'm part of a non-profit here in NYC, called Big Brothers/Big Sisters. I hang out with this one kid, every now and then. He goes to a public school. Let me tell you - American education at the school level (amazing still at uni level) is horrendous. My little friend can't solve math problems that kids 4 years his junior in Russia chew through like candy.

I think this is because of the general dumbing down in classrooms, where the teacher feels forced to cater to the needs of the biggest dummy. In Russia, the dummies are left by the wayside, while the stars are carried around in triumph.

My kid is a star that's being shortchanged by teachers focusing on dumbasses.

Not really. The admission standards are laughable and they have to spend the first two years making up for the deficiencies in their general education. Yes, a handful of top unis are outstanding in their particular fields but en masse American unis are nothing to write home about.

In a sane class, the math teacher says 1 apple plus 1 apple is 2 apples. In a "progressive" class: 1 mommy and 1 mommy is 2 mommies.

Yes it is. A proper national curriculum has a subject called Social, Personal and Health Education or similar. The content of this is the same in all schools and is available for parents to see.

I know a lot of them. Lovely people. Not 'woke' but they're not happy with their education system either. It stifles creativity, ideas and original thinking. Not good for a nation in the long run.

Also, education in China is very patchy depending on where you live and there's a huge problem with inadequate residential schools where children have pretty grim lives.

Proof again how Russia is stupid in comparison to China. I went to America to study what? That's right, American history.

No I'm not. I did a lot of other stuff, but that was what my major was. I was trying something new, however, and it maybe more mainstream now. Economic history. So I had to take some economic courses and classes at the business school. I was focused on Gilded Age America, and the era of the Robber Barons. Specifically railroads, and railroad securities and their marketing in Europe.

"Economic course" and "the US" should never be found in the same sentence.

The US produces half of the world's MBAs - if not more. Yet, it doesn't even know the meaning of "budget" and sees "balanced budget" as xenophobia and racism.

My econ course is simple: don't spend more than you earn.

If you don't spend more than you earn it's hard to grow.

The very trips to America were funded by loaned capital. Debt makes the world go round.

The payable kind. Borrowing for consumption should be the death penalty case. Borrowing to invest is another matter.

In the UK they have introduced compulsory photo ID's to be able to vote.
Many older, more conservative voters, don't have this.

Economics MBA's are much different from Finance MBA's. Economically, the US is still chugging along. It is the banking and finance sectors that are completely fvcked up. They play by rules they make up and the rest of us play catch up, if we can. If the next president is not a Republican, the American experiment may come to a quick end. The rest of the world needs to be worried about what wouold happen if the US as it is no longer exists in the future.

I do. The fundamental principles of a good education system are universal. They can be applied anywhere if there is a will to do so. You are in need of major educational reform in the USA.


Not likely. Irish people have a lot of common sense. The people voted for same sex marriage which makes them woke in your eyes, but they still overwhelmingly want their children to go to Catholic or Church of Ireland schools, schools with a religious ethos. Our government is lead by a man who happens to be gay, so in your eyes absolutely not suited to lead a country, but when pressed by a leftwing member of parliament on divesting Irish schools of their religious patronage he responded:

"It is important to take into account what parents actually want and what their wishes are. I do not agree with forced secularisation of our education system. If a school is working well and parents are happy with how it is working, that view should be respected."

I don't know what his personal religious views are and it's irrelevant. What matters is that he listens to the people. I'm satisfied with that.

The fundementals of a good education system are founded on Math, Science and Literature. Not sociel engineering agenda's. History is determined by what side of history your nation is on. That is just how it works.

Science is science, and anything else being thrown into science is unfounded opinion or mental disease. Math is math, pure and simple. Literature, whether it is fiction or non-fiction should when it comes to education, be controled by the adults who have children receiving that education to ensure that it conforms with thier familiy values.

Family values, are the foundation in which society operates. The problem with the woke agenda is they dont have family values and most do not have families. Put 100 women and ten men on an island and 100 years later you will come back and find a thriving society. Put 100 trans and 10 men on and island and 100 years later you will come back and find 110 male skeletons.
