Of course not.
I am nominally some officer (Lieutenant), thanks to going to university. I manage employees in my daily life, and I care about their lives. In the same way - I guess you could say I would apply a lot of effort to avoid getting my guys in trouble in a warzone.
However, the idea of living in a trench for months, with water up to my ankles, and every manner of disease which humanity has forgotten about - does not make me excited. Camping experience notwithstanding.
What's the goal?
Big picture - the goal is to make Russia once again self sufficient when it comes to encounters with the rest of the world.
150M is just not enough, for Russia to enjoy its place under the Sun as it deserves. Russia has to have 300-400M people, for people to stop making jokes about how we are small in comparison.
The first step in this plan, is to return the unruly cousins under our roof. Nothing bad will happen to them. In fact, I'm sure within a short period of time they will assume their normal function of running our lives.
