This foray into Russia is continuing to advance, and its a pretty big deal. Saying Russia has nothing but junk weapons is simply not the case. Ukraine is getting hit every day by Russias rusty junk and Ukrainians are dying, like Russians are dying. It will be an interesting land swap at peace negotiations.

I am a realist, the russians will recover from the initial surprise and remove the Ukrainians from their territory before peace talks take place. But it was worth it.

I dont know. Russia is thin on reserves and a second front could force another mobilization, which Putin does not want. This is a real black eye for him publicly. They are losing a lot of men on both fronts now, and that manpower pressure is a very important thing to recognize as I said for almost a year with Ukraine facing a shortage. It would appear now that Ukraine was able to round up enough men to shore up their numbers. If Ukraine can hang on to Russian land, it is a serious bargaining chip. The best thing for Russia now would be a Trump win, a Kamala win, likely triggers a larger and longer war.

A few months ago it was estimated that Russia had suffered 550k casualties - dead and wounded, with Ukrainian numbers below that.

That seems to be a realistic assesment.

A hint: From Ukraine's persepctive it's generally a good idea to claim weakness... while the russians tend to claim strength.
