Poland's aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 13

You think Orban will rule Hungary for eternity ?

PiS thought the same but already after just 9 months they are a fading memory and we have normal relations with our neighbors again

@mafketis
Did I say anything about believing the war was started because of NATO? No, I said Ukraine wont get into NATO. The US is not going to allow it because it would likely mean US boots on the ground if and when Russia invades again. Germany wont because it eventually wants the Russian gas back, and to reopen that market for its companies.

@cms neuf
Orban will either die or be out at some point. In general though Hungarian sentiment is pro Russian and they wont be allowing Ukraine in. Why would they? To be sucked into a war when and if Russia invades again? Thats stupid if they did.

All the emotional thinking is not going to help Ukraine. Only rational peace talks between both countries will end this war. And until the EU and US encourage those talks, men from both countries continue to die needlessly.

Ukraine should just blackmail NATO to let them in by saying they will get nukes. Hey, if it worked once...

So far Ukrainians have been turning Russian on water fleet into submarines. Now they have destroyed a true sub. Amasing!

Soon Russian fleet in the Black Sea will be little fishboats armed with heavy machine guns.

when and if Russia invades again?

First you warn twice about a new war unleashed by Russians...

Then you suggest the end of the current war.

Only rational peace talks between both countries will end this war.

You lack logic again. Why finish the first war if the second is imminent???

West lies. Brits lie more.

Because of you, morons, and you pathetic Boris, a million men are dead now.

How does it feel to be a US bit*ch?

BTW, for some reason, when I hear British English I know I am being lied to...Too many 007 movies?

When the US gov and TV place a subject in a deep black hole we know things are not going well for the warmongers. Not a peep about Ukraine here...

Boris, 4 Prime Ministers ago ?

He is responsible for drunken rapists invading their peaceful neighbors in a war of colonial conquest ?

I thought his only crime was to organize a party during Lockdown

Great to see the Ukies continuing to hit military targets in North Nigeria and the submarine

Boris, 4 Prime Ministers ago ?

Yes, that Boris. The one who told Z not to talk to P in 2022 and fight till the last Ukrainian.

Are all Poles here evasive morons enjoying playing cute games?

Doom and gloom on Ukrainian Twitter and Facebook.

The loss of Avdeevka earlier in the summer, was an epic f*ck-up, and the consequences are making themselves known daily.

It turns out all of Zelensky's assurances that "the AFU are executing a disciplined withdrawal to superior defensive lines in the rear" was wishful thinking.

There were no defensive lines, except trenches dug by hand. No concrete reinforced bunkers. Few mines. No tank obstacles.

Everything past Avdeevka is getting sliced up at a rapid pace.

Ukrainian soldiers and social media are now calling for Syrsky to be sacked. Zelensky and his minister of foreign affairs are saying now that Russia will be invited to the next peace summit. They say they are ready to talk, but believe that the Kremlin is not sincere about its willingness to negotiate.

It looks like Toretsk and Pokrovsk will be the Bakhmut of this year. With that, Ukraine will lose its strategic logistical hub in the Donetsk area.

If people here think I'm russophobic.... (and I am I despise russia and its people more than words can express) then check out this guy.... (russian himself)

interesting thread on Crimean Tartars...

money quote: The only identity Russia can tolerate is "the union of complacent cowards" which seems pretty accurate.

There are YouTube videos crowing about how Russia is running out of things.
Please tell me it ain't so.

It's the truth..... they have just gone "Cap in Hand" to ask for help from North Korea!
If that isn't desperation, what is?

Russia are losing this war and will pay for it for years...... in the meantime there may well be a revolution..... something Russia is actually pretty good at.....

As an independent commission established by Congress recently concluded: "If a potential adversary bests the United States in semiconductors over the long term or suddenly cuts off U.S. access to cutting-edge chips entirely, it could gain the upper hand in every domain of warfare."

Yes, Virginia, the US military depends on the chips made on a faraway island that may at any moment be annexed by our worst enemy, Communist China - the country where the US is going shopping for everything and enjoys a 400B-dollar annual trade surplus with the US.

Memo to morons: Russia buying low-tech stuff that goes boom is nothing.

The US buying semiconductor chips to make fighter jets should be classified as treason and the guilty should be executed.

Surprising to see a Ukrainian offensive across the border. While it is undeniably satisfying to see that Russia gets a small taste of the war it unleashed on the Ukrainians, it remains to be seen if this use of troops and materials is really worth it.

Having a referendum and incorporating CDL into the Russian Federation and its constitution was brilliant. This left no wiggle room for Putin and his successors.
Just as Texas is forever part of the US Federation. Zero negotiating room. If absolutely necessary, I have no doubt the US would use nukes to keep Texas.
Good move, Russia... That is why the outcome of this war is already known to all. It's just a question of how many men will die before this fact finally sinks in.

Tacitus

Except of course Kherson and Zaporizhia have also been incorporated according to the Russian constitution. Ultimately neither Putin nor his supporters care for either international law or the Russian constitution, so the eventual return of the occupied territories won't be an issue for their regime.

Novichok

Ultimately neither Putin nor his supporters care for either international law

Why should they?

Did NATO care about international laws when it was bombing Belgrade?

Tacitus
7 Aug 2024  #408

They did. Hence they only intervened militarily after any other option was exhausted and it became clear that otherwise Belgrade would continue to inflict violence in the Balkans. The results speak for themselves. The conflict was brought to a swift and just conclusion, with relatively few casualties and the region remains pacified to this day. It remains the most effective humanitarian intervention to this day.

Novichok

Hence they only intervened militarily after any other option was exhausted

What right did NATO have to intervene in the internal problems of another country? The answer is none. Quoting:

NATO countries attempted to gain authorisation from the UN Security Council for military action, but were opposed by China and Russia, who indicated that they would veto such a measure. As a result, NATO launched its campaign without the UN's approval, stating that it was a humanitarian intervention.

The UN Charter prohibits the use of force except in the case of a decision by the Security Council under Chapter VII, or self-defence against an armed attack - neither of which were present in this case.

The bombing was NATO's second major combat operation, following the 1995 bombing campaign in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was the first time that NATO had used military force without the expressed endorsement of the UN Security Council and thus, international legal approval,[49] which triggered debates over the legitimacy of the intervention.

This made NATO a lawless and criminal organization.

BTW, what gave Germany the right to intervene in Poland and the USSR in 1939 and 1941? Is this why you love NATO in Serbia?

Tacitus

@Novichok

What right did NATO have to intervene in the internal problems of another country? The answer is none.

I could now point out that the legal consensus is nowadays that NATO was justified to intervened since the scenario - a permanent member of the UN council shielding a genocidal dictator (something Russia has done repeatedly ever since) contradicts the principles of the UN charta and that concepts like "Responsibility to protect" have been accepted since then.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsibility_to_protect

But arguing with someone about the details of international law who repeatedly claimed that the "referenda" in Donbass and Crimea and were democratic and that North Korea is a democracy is a waste of time.

Just accept that your whataboutism lacks any basis.

How many times have you lost arguments on this forum by now? A few hundred times at least.. I wonder, who will realize the futitlity of their endeavour sooner. The Russians with their invasion of Ukraine, or you with your attempts at justifying it.

Though I suppose that helps to explain why you like Putin and Trump. As a fellow loser, you can relate to them.

Surprising to see a Ukrainian offensive across the border

Any time things are going very badly, Zelensky orders a raid into Belgorod (now Kursk), or starts hitting ships in Crimea.

In the past it was just a silly waste of men. This time it's criminal incompetence, however. Their army is getting hammered in the southeast, and needs urgent help.

I guess no one cares about Donetsk Oblast anymore. Russian Kursk is burning, and that's funny and makes us feel good about ourselves.

How is hitting ships a waste of men ? It's an excellent tactic

Same with this raid - diverts North Nigerian resources and makes them look stupid

It's precisely the kind of mischief Putin's own spies and militias have been spreading round the world for years

I know an edgy **** like you used to love Nazis, just like you love Russians now. Every murderous animal gets a soft spot in your dark heart. This is just the way you are.

However you have to keep in mind most of us here aren't as deranged as you. We still are able to differentiate between right and wrong, ability that you irreversibly lost.

We bombed Serbia because Serbians were engaging in ethnic cleasing in Kosovo. And we do not like ethnic cleansing on Europe's doorstep.

Their army is getting hammered in the southeast,

That is why they started their offensive in Kursk region to relieve the sieged areas elsewhere. You aren`t too tactical warfare savy, are you???

like you used to love Nazis, just like you love Russians

....just an interesting observation of mine....it seems to be mainstream to call the Germans of Hitler "Nazis"...but the Russians of Putin "Russians" including a whole people and culture, even history and future....and I wonder.

"Putinists" is rather rare, even if that would be more realistic and fitting. Will that change in 50 years too?

Okay, that was my totally unnecessary side remark...now on again with the current discussion! :)

A measure of how much the North Nigerians are rattled by this - they have turned all their trolls and bots to talk about this dumb idea of the Ukrainians

Bobko

to relieve the sieged areas elsewhere.

Small problem...

Russian law forbids deploying conscripts to foreign wars. In Ukraine currently - there are no conscripts, for example. Also, they are not in Syria. They're not in Africa either. Guess where they are?

That's right, the conscripts are all in Russia.

What does that mean for our discussion? It means nobody will be leaving the Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, or Kherson segments of the front in order to rotate to Kursk.

Just like the last time when the Ukrainians raided inside Belgorod, and none of our formations in Ukraine were pulled out.

Some of the unintended consequences of Ukraine's recent adventures in Russia could be:

1) A Russian declaration of war. Something Putin has avoided doing, but may be more interested in now.

2) A further round of mobilization in Russia

3) A Russian counter-attack into the now exposed Sumy border area. The idea of the Kharkov operation earlier this summer was to create a buffer zone, which would prevent future Ukrainian forays into Belgorod Oblast. Also, it served the purpose of stretching the Ukrainians further. The same may follow here.

4) The most obvious consequence might be them experiencing a collapse of the front in the southeast, which is in need of dire assistance. Blowing their accumulated reserves on super fun times in Kursk, will leave them unable to effectively respond to the situation further south.

A Russian declaration of war. Something Putin has avoided doing, but may be more interested in now.

Might as well make it official. 🙂

From what you can tell, what's the general mood of Russians living in Russia toward the (as of yet not "official ") war in Ukraine? General mood one of demanding victory? Wanting a settled peace? Just want to get the hell out?
